The second VICAL event for the Madrid Design Festival was led by the interior designer Fabián Ñíguez and took place at the OLIBATI concept store. Because, in an edition where design predominates, only a professional like Fabián can transform and capture the meaning of connected design in one space.
We’re currently in a context in which the concepts of Fast Fashion and Fast Deco have an expiry date, since they are sectors that are classified as the most polluting, especially fashion, and we are dealing with a society that is very aware of the environment around it and which is committing to new consumption practices to mitigate these negative effects.
At the moment and within the framework of the Madrid Design Festival, VICAL sees the opportunity to spread the message, talongside OLIBATI, of the importance of always bearing in mind the sustainability of each project, be it manudacturing a clothing garment, a piece of furniture or an interior design project. That is, to stop and reflect on the world of interior design and fashion.

No professional other than Fabián Ñíguez could have been responsible for capturing this concept and telling a story in a space; a story based on connection in the world of design, fashion, furniture and of the importance of implementing artisan processes from beginning to end in each of these aspects.
The VICAL and OLIBATI creative team worked hand in hand with Fabián to choose both the most special garments and the pieces of VICAL furniture that fit best with the clothing. And, as a result, a space was achieved in which you felt like you were in an interior haute couture museum.

Fabián’s objective in selecting and arranging the pieces in the showroom was to give those present the chance to voyage to wherever in the world he or she wished; where each detail was designed to the last millimetre so that each piece of furniture and decoration would fit in and become one.
To Africa, New York, Paris or Istanbul, because it didn’t matter where: what mattered on Thursday, 10 February, was that each attendee felt something different; and being able to awaken sensations in people is the main objective and achievement of any professional in the sector, be it fashion or furniture.
